Raheem Sterling is currently without a club despite impressing for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal throughout his career.
Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Raheem Sterling’s current situation is “sad to see”, with the former Chelsea and Arsenal star currently without a club.
The 31-year-old made a £47.5m switch from Manchester City to West London in the summer of 2022, leaving City after scoring 131 goals in 339 games and winning four Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium. His signing was seen as a massive statement of intent by the Blues, then managed by Tuchel.
But Enzo Maresca was left out of the squad for the start of the 2024/25 season and then signed for Arsenal on loan. His spell at the Emirates Stadium didn’t go to plan as he failed to really make an impact during his time in north London. Currently, the 31-year-old football player has scored 1 goal in 28 games in the team of “ballers”.

The then £325,000-a-week winger returned to Chelsea but his departure was confirmed in January this year after the two sides reached a mutual agreement to end his time at Stamford Bridge. Sterling joined Feyenoord in February, but his time in the Netherlands proved to be a disaster and he left at the end of the season.
Sterling, who won 82 caps for his country between 2012 and 2022, is now without a club and is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide.
“I have a lot of sympathy for him and I feel he has been fighting since he left Man City and was at the peak of his career,” Tuchel said. “I was fighting for this transfer and he never proved the importance he normally has. It was a big step for him at the time.
“It’s so sad to see someone struggle because he was a devoted father and family man to his children, a wonderful guy to be around.
“I’m not sure how much of his fault it is, sometimes you just go into a weird spiral in life, a downward spiral. Of course, thoughts are with him, faith always believes he can turn it around and I wish him the best.”
