The Tottenham star endured a nightmare 22 minutes as Roberto De Zerbi’s summer decision was confirmed

Roberto De Zerbi will not question his transfer decision after the Tottenham player suffered a nightmare during a Nations League match.

Roberto De Zerbi’s decision to let Radu Dragusi leave Tottenham Hotspur on loan this summer has paid dividends if Romania’s recent Nations League nightmare is anything to go by.

The central midfielder has found his future in North London up in the air throughout the transfer window as Spurs completed a complete overhaul of the first team to give their new manager the best chance of success in the Premier League.

Major changes were needed At the Lilywhites, given how much the club struggled last season, they narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship by two points, finishing 17th on the final day of the season..

As a result, a number of new arrivals were welcomed during the transfer window, with Spurs splashing out over £250m on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Savio alone.

Departures were also necessary to make room for new players, but Dragusin joined Fiorentina on loan for the season.

The deal also includes an obligation to sign the 24-year-old based on meeting certain performance criteria.

It’s fair to say that the Bucharest-born talent has had a difficult start to the season so far, despite being given plenty of room to develop.

Dragusin has played in each of La Viola’s first five Serie A games this term, logging a total of 450 minutes. However, he did not succeed in Florence.

Fiorentina have won just one game so far, with one draw and three defeats, leaving them 17th in the table and two points clear of the relegation zone.

Dragusi did not have more chances on the world stage. The centre-back managed just 22 minutes in Romania’s Nations League clash with Poland on Friday, when he was sent off for bringing down Robert Lewandowski as the last man in his area.

Poland won that game 6-0, Lewandowski scored a hat-trick. Virgil Gita’s own goal and further strikes from Piotr Zieliński and Jan Bednarek completed the scoring.

It comes as Spurs look to make a big mark in the new campaign despite spending heavily in the summer.

De Zerbi’s men are yet to win a league match after five games, leaving them sitting bottom of England’s top flight. It won’t get any easier when Spurs face Manchester United when Premier League action returns on Saturday, October 10.
