Texans Owner’s Old Jab at Browns Resurfaces

The 2026 NFL season is going better than anyone expected for the Cleveland Browns. Not only was their defense solid without Myles Garrett, but the Deshaun Watson-led offense also performed in key moments.

Watson has been heroic in the fourth quarter in three straight games, leading game-winning drives for an offense that started the season as one of the league’s worst. Fans were disappointed the team didn’t make any quarterback moves in the offseason, but after seeing what he’s done up to this point, they’ve certainly changed their tune.

Now that the Browns are 3-1, some comments from Houston Texans owner Hannah McNair have resurfaced, as Watson has been able to achieve late in games, MLFootball noted.

“Thank a Brown. Have you thanked the Browns lately? Thank them for all of our players,” McNair said in an old interview.

In that press conference, McNair apparently mocked the Browns for taking Watson and signing him to a big contract, as well as thanking them for the players they acquired in the trade. The Browns traded three first-round picks to the Texans along with three other picks that turned into some fantastic players for Houston.

While these players have looked solid to this point in their careers and the Texans have done well since the Watson trade, the Browns look much better than they did in 2026. The Browns are 3-1 on the season compared to the Texans who are 0-4.

McNair might have laughed when he first made those comments, but now it’s the Browns and their fans who are laughing, especially since a 3-1 Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was a seemingly impossible outcome.

It will be interesting to see if the Browns can continue this momentum for the rest of the season, but for now, fans are riding the wave and enjoying what they are watching.
