Scott Parker: Rob Green and John Moncur back West Ham move

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Rob Green says Scott Parker’s “proven record” of taking teams through the Championship will make him the perfect fit as the club’s next manager.

Parker, 46, is expected to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on Tuesday following West Ham’s poor start to the season following relegation.

A three-time former club player of the year at West Ham, Parker led Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley to promotion as manager.

“Scott has been shown a proven track record for promotion,” Parker’s former team-mate Green told BBC Radio London.

“Scott’s detractors would say, ‘It’s not really a fantasy style of play, it’s not a style that can excite the fans.’

“There’s so much quality in that side that they still need to improve. You’re in the Premier League, you stay in the Premier League, then you worry about your style of football.

“Give it the stardust [West Ham] front line to him [and] it can give you a really good platform to go forward with it. It makes perfect sense to me.”
