Nicholas Jackson ‘secretly advising’ Chelsea target after £47m transfer deal

Chelsea missed out on the deadline day signings of Lamine Camara and former striker Nicolas Jackson, which helped them in this disappointment and in their decision about his future.

Nicholas Jackson is reportedly still urging Lamine Camara to move to the Premier League following his transfer to Chelsea. The midfielder was set to join the Blues from AS Monaco on deadline day and had even completed a medical, but the deal was called off at the eleventh hour.

Monaco were looking to raise funds at the end of the summer window, but opted to keep Camara when it looked like Folarina Balogan was heading to Everton just for that deal to go through.

Although the latter only recently returned to the French club’s squad, Camara has played 90 minutes in every club match so far this season. His professionalism is likely the reason Camara was reintegrated almost immediately, admitting he had “turned the page” on his failed transfer last month.

“There was a possibility that I might leave,” he said. “It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football. I’ve turned the page and I’m focusing on the season.”

While that’s his public stance, joining Chelsea or one of their rivals is still on the agenda, with Jackson, 22, quietly suggesting he follow him to the Premier League, per The Sun.

Their report also claimed that the former Chelsea striker helped his Senegal international team-mate’s frustration with the failed Chelsea transfer.

Although he may soon become a Premier League player, his representatives are not in a hurry to do anything about his future and will evaluate all options when the time comes.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott was a hot transfer target before Camara, but Chelsea have seen several advances rejected.

The 23-year-old made his England debut but was sidelined for the next few months with a quad injury. That could rule out a January transfer, but the Cherries are open to doing business if a £100m bid comes in.

While Chelsea failed to sign Camara or Scott, they did manage to complete a permanent £65million move for Jackson, 25, to Aston Villa.

He made seven appearances under Unai Emery, scoring three goals with Jackson to return to Stamford Bridge just before Christmas. The reverse fixture at Villa Park takes place towards the end of February.
