Joao Pedro is proving he can be a superstar in this league and some old Enzo Maresca quotes seem pretty silly.

There are plenty of reasons why Chelsea fans don’t like Enzo Maresca and we can’t wait for our games against Manchester City later this season.
The manager’s comments about Joao Pedro last season are now being thrown back as evidence that he will never get the best out of the Brazilian. Maresca famously said that for all his qualities, JP “is not a number nine who will score 20 goals every year”.
Maresca’s rather slow possession style, like Alonso’s more aggressive style, did not suit the speedy forwards. The former Brighton man has risen through the ranks since January when Maresca left Chelsea.
Maresca’s suspicions about JP already seem silly
Well, JP looked better than Enzo Maresca under Liam Rosenior. Now he looks better than Rosenior under Xabi Alonso.
20 goals in a season now looks like light work for him. He’s got 5 in 5 games – assuming he avoids injury, he’ll be very disappointed if he doesn’t score more than 20 goals in the league this season.
Let’s hope he can get a few of those against Maresca’s Man City side when we play at the end of the season…
