‘Time off until March maybe’ – PSG striker Ousmane Dembélé brushes off criticism over game-time management

Starting just three of six Ligue 1 matches this season, Ousmane Dembélé (29) has seen the start of the 2026-27 campaign dominated by game-time management. After appearing in each of France’s four matches in September, the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner was rested by Paris Saint-Germain upon his return and missed last weekend’s home match against Le Mans (4-1).

Criticized by some, the decision prompted Dembele, who scored against Manchester City (2-4) on Wednesday, to respond with sarcasm. “I went on vacation after the international break. Actually, I might want another one…” he said jokingly Channel+. “I enjoy playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays… Especially when I get back from vacation!”

As PSG prepare to face RC Strasbourg Alsace this Saturday, Dembélé was once again in jovial mood and joked about the possibility of another holiday. “it’s possible” he answered. “Maybe until March!”
