NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson apologizes for comments he made about Jalen Hurts after the quarterback’s season ended due to a blood clot.

“I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and my comments last Thursday,” Robinson, 43, wrote on X on Monday, Oct. 19. “They were unfounded and I should never have speculated about a player’s health issues or his commitment to his team.”

The retired San Francisco 49ers running back also apologized on air Monday for the analysis he offered Thursday, Oct. 15, in which he said Hurts took himself out of the conversation to make the former Super Bowl champion’s frustrating season “not look like it was.”

“I don’t know, guys, but it seemed like they were trying to pin the outcome of this season on Jalen Hurts, just to have an excuse to pass on Jalen Hurts later,” Robinson said last week. “And again, I’m not saying I don’t know anything, guys, but … if I’m Jalen Hurts or anybody in the Jalen Hurts camp, I’m saying if everybody’s hurt, I’m hurt.” “

On Monday, Hurts’ agent Nicole Lynn confirmed that what was previously announced as a “superficial blood clot” has turned into a serious health issue.

“After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is deep vein thrombosis as well as bilateral pulmonary embolism,” Lynn said. “He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations.”

Lynn added that Hurts’ treatment will include taking blood thinners and “he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football.”

Medical personnel initially determined the quarterback had a blood clot before the Eagles’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Oct. 11, in London, but Hurts was cleared to play.

The NFL star was cleared to accompany the team on the eight-hour flight back to Philadelphia.

Days later, a blood clot was found to have dislodged from Hurts’ leg, causing multiple clots to form in his lungs.

On Monday, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni defended the team’s handling of the situation.

“The health of our players is always our concern and we leave that up to the medical professionals, but we always, always care deeply about our players,” Sirianni, 45, said. “When you’re totally focused on togetherness and bonding, you’re always thinking about the well-being of your boys, and that’s where we were.”
