Kent: Matt Milnes and Sam Northeast contract extension clauses triggered

Kent have triggered contract extensions for seamer Matt Milnes and experienced batter Sam Northeast, meaning both will stay until the end of the 2028 season.

Milnes (54 wickets) and North East (890 runs) finished the 2026 campaign as Kent’s leading wicket-taker and run-scorer respectively as they won promotion to the Kent Championship Division One.

North East, 36, and Milnes, 32, both joined Kent after spells in other counties earlier in the season.

Kent director of cricket Simon Cook told the club’s website:, external “We are delighted with how both Sam and Milnesy have performed in their first seasons at Kent and are delighted that they will be Kent players until at least the end of 2028.”
