Tonight’s Nations League clash saw England lose 3-2 at home to Spain in what proved to be an exciting contest between two top teams.
Still, it was ultimately a disappointment for England, who fell behind early on to Lamine Yamal’s goal after Mark Gheishi’s error.
Despite leading 2-1 at half-time, England collapsed in the second half and Spain reasserted their dominance.
Let’s take a look at how England’s players fared on a difficult night at Wembley…
England vs. Spain player ratings
James Trafford – 5.5 – Made some good saves but ultimately failed to capitalize on his chance in a rare start against Jordan Pickford. Conceding three goals, even if it wasn’t his fault, is not the best night in the office for any goalkeeper.
Mark Gesh – 5 – Spain’s first goal was indeed a sloppy mistake and although he recovered reasonably well later, it wasn’t good enough for a top player as it immediately put England in trouble.
Ezri Konsa – 6 – Slightly better, but overall it was a tough night for the England defense as they were never able to do anything against Spain’s tricky attack.
Jarrell Quasa – 5.5 – He’s not a natural right-back, so it’s unclear why he was chosen to start instead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Nico O’Reilly – 5.5 – Provided an assist for Harry Kane’s goal, but also made a mistake, so there’s definitely room for improvement.
Elliot Anderson – 6.5 – He works hard and does his job well, but it’s never easy against an opponent like Rodri.
Miles Lewis Skelly – 6.5 – The Arsenal youngster has also made a switch at club level since returning to England, showing his promise as a midfield option for his country.
Jude Bellingham – 7.5 – He got an assist and kept trying to make things happen, which was unmatched by many England players tonight.

Bukayo Saka – 6 – It wasn’t his night, he had zero successful dribbles, but had a few shots on goal, which won’t worry Spain.
Anthony Gordon – 7.5 – A brilliant goal and a spirited performance.
Harry Kane – 7 – Although the final goal was a bit disjointed, he’ll take it – another one to keep! Unfortunately the penalty was missed.
