Chelsea v Man Utd player ratings: Rogers and Palmer make the difference – how did Martinez rate?

Mike Penders: The Belgian goalkeeper remains under pressure after his mistake against Tottenham last week, but he was solid here and made some comfortable saves. 7

Josh Acheampong: The young defender was shaky early on but recovered well, made a fantastic block on Bruno Fernandes’ volley and improved as the game wore on. 6

Wesley Fofana: The Frenchman made a perfect block on one of Amad Diallo’s shots, but the full-back made a double mistake as he was fouled on the counter-attack. His header also hit the post after a chaotic display deflected off Moises Caicedo. Fofana also won the second half penalty. 5

Levi Colwill: The England defender was part of an overall poor defensive display but made no obvious mistakes himself. 6

Marco Palestra: The Italian made good recovery runs in his first start for Chelsea but was part of an organizationally substandard defensive display. 7

Moises Caicedo: An effective presence in the bare midfield battle, helping Chelsea compete physically in the center of the pitch. 6

Romeo Lavia: The player who often helps Chelsea play with United’s pressure, sparks several counter-attacks with a clever pass. He won the ball in Chelsea’s opening match. 7

Pedro Neto: Arguably Chelsea’s most dangerous striker, but finishing saved him with one effort in the first half and another with a good shot. 6

Cole Palmer: A quiet game by his standards and unconvincingly scored a penalty in the second half. Furthermore, he produced an ambitious effort from inside his own half and gifted one of United’s key chances. 6

Estevao Willian: Lost possession with his first touch but recovered impressively. Things looked lively as he had a couple of dangerous looking shots on goal and a goal but was ruled out for offside. His sets were also of consistently high quality. 8

Morgan Rogers: From a surprisingly anonymous start and scored with a spectacular dink in the 50th minute, struggled in the No.9 position until he was given the chance to run at United’s defence. 8
