Cristian ‘Kily’ Gonzalez insists there is no margin for error in Inter Miami’s final two games of the regular season ahead of the New England Revolution.
Gonzalez’s comments came after Miami had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati last time out, with Riquelme Phillippi scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute.
Luis Suarez opened the scoring at Nu Stadium, but two goals in six minutes from Kenji Mboma Dem and Samuel Gidi put Cincinnati on course for a big away win.
But Phillipi secured a share of the spoils with his first goal for the club, leaving just two points separating Miami and New England before locking horns at Gillette Stadium.
New England knows they’ll seal second place in the Eastern Conference if they win, and Gonzalez said he wants to see his team take a risk this weekend.
“We have no margin for error,” Gonzalez said. “There were transitions that hurt us. If we had been better, we would have won.”
“We have to understand that we are a club that has to step forward, take risks, show personality and play football without being afraid to make mistakes.”
Lionel Messi will also be available for selection in Miami despite picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Cincinnati. Under MLS rules, when a player appears in five consecutive matches without receiving a yellow card, red card or additional discipline, his total yellow card count is automatically reduced by one.
Messi has twice gone more than five games without a booking, so two of his five cards no longer count as accumulations that would force him to miss a match.

But with Messi against them, New England will still fancy their chances of making it four wins in a row at a crucial time in the campaign.
New England were advanced last time out by the New York Red Bulls, though it took Daniel Gazdag’s 83rd-minute winner to seal a 3-2 win.
Although Marko Mitrovic believes the club is headed in the right direction, the Revolution have failed to win the MLS Cup a record five times in the playoffs.
“Here we have a great message written on our walls, [in] We say that we are never satisfied,” said Mitrovic.
“We can have moments of happiness when things go right or moments of sadness when things go wrong.
“It’s not just about the result, winning or losing, there are other actions that we do on a daily basis.
“Sometimes we may or may not be the happiest about something. But being content puts you in ‘sleep mode,’ so we don’t want to create a contented mindset.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
The New England Revolution – Dor Turgeman
Turgeman scored twice in New England’s win over NYRB on Wednesday, his second career multi-goal game in MLS.
Another came against FC Cincinnati earlier this month, with Turgeman joining Messi as the only MLS players to have multiple multi-goal games in October.
Inter Miami – Riquelme Phillipi
Phillippi scored his first MLS career goal in the 90th minute of Miami’s draw with Cincinnati.
He is the 67th player to score in a regular season game for Miami and the 35th South American to score for the Herons.
One to remember for Phillipi.

PREDICTION OF THE MATCH: SATELLITE
New England snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw at Miami on April 25.
That matchup marked the first tie between the Revolution and the Herons, all of the first 10 meetings won (Miami seven wins, New England three wins).
The Revolution have also won four in a row by scoring a straight goal with each win. It is the second time in team history that they have won four consecutive regular season games by one goal, tying a four-game streak dating back to June 2024.
Miami is playing on the road for the first time since last Saturday’s 2:0 loss to New York Red Bulls.
They are looking to avoid being shut out in back-to-back regular-season away games for the first time since a four-game drought to start the 2023 campaign before Messi debuts that summer.
