Manchester City narrowly beat Manchester United in Sunday’s derby in which Phil Foden was sent off.
Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has now taken a swipe at Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, calling the Portugal international a liar. He claimed Fernandes was responsible for the Manchester City playmaker’s sending off during the Manchester derby.

He said in talk about sports: “Bruno Fernandez is a liar. Maybe the goal (disallowed) is what you get for the red card!”
Manchester City ended up winning the game and United will be disappointed with the result.
United, meanwhile, haven’t had the best start to their Premier League campaign. They improved under Michael Carrick last season and qualified for the Champions League. They are expected to build on that this year and push for trophies. Whether it can rebound strongly remains to be seen. They also lost the opening game of the Premier League season.
It’s clear that they need more quality to compete with the top teams.
Fernandes’ Manchester derby controversy
In Manchester City’s 1-0 derby win over Manchester United, Phil Foden was sent off in the 23rd minute after kicking Bruno Fernandes. The incident began when Fernandes appeared to kick Foden as the City midfielder fell to the ground. Foden responded by kicking Fernandez in the abdomen, prompting referee Michael Oliver to show a direct red card, a decision that has been confirmed by VAR as violent conduct.
It’s obvious that Foden shouldn’t have reacted this way, but the Manchester United midfielder certainly pissed him off.
