Liverpool forward Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jonathan Burkat will join the German squad early following injuries to Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala.
Musiala did not participate in Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League due to a muscle injury sustained during warm-up.
Havertz went off injured within the half-hour mark and new manager Jurgen Klopp subsequently admitted that both men were unlikely to feature in Sunday’s clash with Greece.
Klopp called up 44 players for his first Germany squad and split it in two. Augsburg goalkeeper Fen Damen is the only player to feature in both groups.
The first group was selected to participate in the first two games of the extended international break, and the second group was selected to participate in the game against Serbia and the second game against Greece.
Wirtz and Burkat were both selected as part of the second group but will now be in contention to face Greece at Augsburg after replacing Havertz and Musiala.
Klopp gets more chance to work magic with Wirtz
Ahead of the international break, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said he expected the best from Klopp as Wirtz continues to struggle to influence the Reds’ games.

“There is a scenario where Jurgen Klopp has a good international window with Germany and he gets loads of goals, assists and comes back in great form. Manchester City are the next game and he affects that and all is forgotten and all is forgiven. There is a potential turnaround there.”

Klopp will now get more opportunities to work with the oft-criticized Wirtz, who has scored 11 goals in 45 games for his country.
