Rangers’ Mickey Moore is the perfect example of showing confidence in a new signing, after the teenager initially started slowly under Russell Martin.
There were even rumors at one point that the young winger was seeking a quick return to parent club Tottenham Hotspur, but by the end of the season he had proven his quality at Ibrox.
Moore enjoyed great success in Glasgow and deservedly won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award. Would the Gers sign such talent again?
Why Rangers can’t re-sign Mickey Moore
Frustratingly in recent years, many success stories have only lasted a short period of time, with almost every activity these days being dominated by loan signings.
From Malik Tillman to Abdallah Cima, to Vaclav Cerny and on to Moore, the Gers have struck gold in the loan market time and time again, but have been unable to secure permanent residences for any of the four.
As for Moore, there were rumors late last season that the Light Blues were looking to extend his stay in some way, whether through a loan extension or a permanent deal.
Danny Rohr has publicly admitted that he wants the 19-year-old to stay put and hinted that talks will be held, although the German has subsequently moved on, which could have consequences for the winger’s future.
Likewise, Tottenham’s players were eager to see him up close again in pre-season before deciding that a spell in one of Europe’s top five leagues would be a better way to develop his talent.
How Moore is doing so far this season
Moore is likely to remain in the Championship following Tottenham’s relegation, although Roberto De Zerbi’s late-season heroics ensured the north London side avoided the embarrassment of a drop into the second tier.
This “success” only increases the possibility of Moore leaving on loan within the framework of Rangers, but the youngster has certainly impressed in pre-season, scoring twice against Hoffenheim.
He also started the opening weekend of the Premier League against Brentford, then scored against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup before being loaned out to Bundesliga side Cologne following an influx of attacking players.
Despite Cologne’s shock defeat to Stuttgart, the teenager won rave reviews for his debut as a substitute but has since started each of Germany’s final two games in the top flight.
He is still waiting for a goal or an assist, although his dynamic talent at Ibrox is firmly on display, averaging 2.3 successful dribbles per game.

How Rangers signed England’s greatest talent
The transfer window has just ended, but attention will soon turn to January and the chances of further strengthening in 2027.
It’s fair to say that after so much turmoil over the last 12 months, Rangers are in need of some peace and quiet in terms of recruitment, although you wouldn’t go wrong with a big-name signing or two.
There still appears to be room for reinforcement in the forward line, so the Gers are thought to be one of the clubs interested in signing Arsenal starlet Max Dauman.
It was reported this week that more than a dozen clubs have contacted the Gunners with an interest in signing the teenager on loan, with Rangers and rivals Celtic both interested parties and holding talks.
At just 16 years old, Dauman will be eligible for a loan when he turns 17 on December 31, which is perfect timing before the January window begins.
The north London side are said to be open to the possibility of a loan exit for the young prodigy, with first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium set to be limited in the short term.
That’s not to say that Dowman isn’t highly regarded in his current squad, Arsenal are just patient with the player Hale End calls “England’s greatest talent” Academy Expert Will Balsam.
For example, when Moore was loaned out by Rangers, the teenager showed glimpses of his potential at Tottenham, although he only scored and assisted three goals for the club at the time of the move.
For his part, Dauman, even at just 16, is already a step ahead of his compatriot, having already scored four goals and assisted four in his first 15 first-team appearances under Mikel Arteta, playing a small role in last season’s title-winning campaign.
Arguably Arsenal’s most memorable goal of the season was Dauman’s stoppage-time solo strike against Everton, who had already played a key role in Victor Chokeres’ opener.
As for the 2026/27 season, the playmaker only recently hit the headlines with a brace in the Carabao Cup win over Ipswich Town, once again showing superb technique to break into the penalty area before scoring.
There was a graceful, ballet-like quality to his performances, a boy of just 16 who was already making senior opponents look silly with his dribbling ability.
Predicting a young player’s career is never easy, but Dauman looks like a future superstar for club and country, even above Moore.
Bringing him to Ibrox, even for a brief period, could very well be a brilliant move for Derek McInnis and company.
