Bartel was reportedly arrested on May 20, 2026 in Orange County, Florida on a battery charge. He was booked in Orange County, Florida at 2:37 p.m., according to online records. PWInsider later confirmed via its report that Bartel was released from Orange County Corrections on $1,000 bail by his WWE colleague and close friend Guenther. Now, after a hearing on Monday, October 19, 2026, Kaiser’s motion to dismiss the battery case has been denied.

Kaiser’s legal team sought to reduce the battery charge, citing Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. The claim was that Kaiser was justified in using the level of force he used against the alleged victim because he believed it was necessary to defend himself and his boyfriend, Andre Bazarte, “from the imminent threat of unlawful force.” A pre-trial conference is scheduled for December 17, 2026.

“Here’s what I heard about Ludwig Kaiser’s situation. He was in the elevator of the apartment with Andrea Bazarte and they were friendly, but nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. [Richard] Reap allegedly didn’t say anything in the elevator, but after they got to the 12th floor, he told Kaiser something to the effect of ‘you need to show some respect before I call this jerk to ICE.’ Kaiser got off the elevator and there was a small argument between them, but apparently no punches were thrown,” Giri wrote.
