The last four league campaigns have seen Eddie Howe and his Newcastle players finish the season in 4th, 7th, 5th and 12th place.
This time, Europe is not distracted.
The new manager in Matthias Jaissle and the Newcastle United players have played eight matches in the Premier League so far.
Wins against Spurs, Hull and Palace, plus draws against Liverpool and Bournemouth. Three defeats against Coventry, Aston Villa and Leeds.
NUFC will complete this ninth round of EPL matches on Monday night, a win would see Newcastle 7th in the Premier League table with 14 points after 9 matches, a draw and 9th with 12 points, a loss and 13th with 11 points.
Six and a half months on, the big question is where will NUFC finish the 2026-27 Premier League season?
