Emma Hayes was forced to make two adjustments to the US Women’s National Team roster in October.
Midfielder Jaelin Howell and defender Kate Del Fava have been added to the roster as a pair of injury replacements, US Soccer announced. Sam Coffey and Naomi Girma have been forced to withdraw from international action due to respective injuries.
Both Coffey and Girma will remain at their respective WSL clubs for observation.
Howell, 26, has six career USWNT wins to date, scoring one goal. His most recent form was against Italy in the 2025 final.
At the NWSL level, Howell played 27 games for Gotham FC.
Del Fava was already set to go to Atlanta as a USWNT U-23 “senior” player, but will instead join the senior squad. She was previously called up to the USWNT U-23 last June during the program’s trip to Brazil.
The 28-year-old defenseman has played 27 NWSL games for the Utah Royals this season and has been a force on defense.
Hayes’ team will face No. 1 Spain on Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C., and on Oct. 13 in Chester, Pennsylvania.
