Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham beat Crystal Palace on Saturday to break two club records.
Tottenham Hotspur made it three league wins in a row at the weekend by comfortably beating Crystal Palace 2-0 in north London.
With the Eagles down to 10 after Jean-Philippe Mateta was sent off in the first half, Roberto De Zerbi’s men overwhelmed the visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke secured victory for Spurs, who could score more goals.
With the visitors entering their own half, Tottenham enjoyed nearly 90 percent possession and an expected goals (xG) of 3.47. Nine of them were on target, 34 shots to Palace’s two.
It is interesting that “Spurs” actually broke two records during the victory. The hosts completed 759 accurate passes – the most they have ever managed in a Premier League game. Impressively, Spurs recorded a pass accuracy of 93.12 per cent on Saturday, which was a new record for the club in the top flight.

Tottenham’s previous record for most assists in a Premier League match was 747, when the Lilywhites beat Cardiff City 3–0 on 1 January 2019. And the previous record for the highest pass accuracy in a Premier League game was 93.01 per cent.
After the win over Palace, De Zerbi spoke of how the new-look squad has contributed to the turnaround in form that is now a team. Last month’s trip to Marbella was the catalyst for that form and De Zerbi believes Tottenham will finally reap the rewards after 10 new £380m deals were signed this summer by majority owners the Lewis family.
“I think we were playing well even before the national break,” said De Zerbi. “Maybe we weren’t there for 90 minutes, but we played very well for many parts of the game. We didn’t score. We conceded a stupid goal, then we lost energy. We lost spirit. We lost the right unity between the players. We played very well in this game.”
“If we compare Tottenham before the national break and Tottenham after the national break, now we are playing as a team. Before the national break we were playing very good players, but not as a team.”
