CFP rankings: Preliminary playoff bracket prediction sets stage for huge Week 10

The preliminary College Football Playoff rankings are in.

The selection committee has set the stage for a big weekend ahead.

The committee’s preliminary rankings set the schedule for four games between teams ranked in the Top 15. Miami, the No. 1 team in the first rankings released just moments ago, heads to South Bend to face Notre Dame, ranked No. 11 by the committee.

Additionally, No. 7 BYU travels to Salt Lake City to face No. 3 Utah in a massive game for both the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff. In the SEC, No. 2 Georgia takes on No. 10 Ole Miss, while No. 5 Alabama travels to Baton Rouge to take on No. 14 LSU in a matchup of 6-2 teams.

As things stand, No. 12 Ohio State will be the first team out of the College Football Playoff after losses to Texas and USC. Midfielder Julian Sayin is out with a right elbow injury and could miss the rest of the season. Boise State, ranked No. 25, would be the only team in the College Football Playoff from the No. 6 seed.
