Tottenham Hotspur have received an update on midfielder James Maddison’s condition following his injury against Chelsea.
“Tottenham Hotspur” star James Maddison will not be injured for a long time after the game against “Chelsea”. Immediately after the break, Maddison limped off with a suspected groin problem.
Injuries have limited him to just 9 Premier League appearances in two seasons. After limping off in the 2-0 win over the Blues, there were fears of a recurrence of his injury problems.
However, it has now been revealed that his injury is not as serious as the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury that plagued him. Whether he will be fit to play against Crystal Palace this weekend is a different question.

The Sun reports that his latest release is not serious. At this point, it is too early to determine if he will feature against the Eagles this weekend.
After the win at Stamford Bridge, Roberto De Zerbi admitted the club are paying extra attention to Maddison and team-mate Dejan Kulusevski, who has been limited to a handful of games over the last two seasons due to injury.
De Zerbi said: “I hope he didn’t feel a big problem, but we have to undergo a medical. Maddison and Kulusevski, we have to manage them like two diamonds, because they are both special players, they both have different personalities.”
Maddison has been impressive for Spurs since the international break ended. He scored a fine goal in a 3-1 home win over Coventry and looked impressive against Chelsea before the match was abandoned.
At the end of last season, Maddison admitted he had endured some “dark days” as a result of his injury problems, which began when he partially tore his ACL in the 2025 Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt. Reflecting on what happened last May, he said: “He told me about it [external] the specialist will not need surgery and rehabilitation.
“Then obviously it wasn’t strong, it didn’t heal properly and I needed a full operation similar to what happened in South Korea. It was an incredible moment that will still live with me forever.
“There have been some dark days in the last year, especially after the surgery. It’s been a really tough year for me mentally, but now I’m at the end of the tunnel, so I can kind of look back fondly because I’m mentally strong after going through it.
“Physically I feel very well, so personally the reception I’ve received from the Spurs fans at this moment is something that will live with me forever.”
Spurs’ wins over Coventry and Chelsea moved them up to 14th, with them looking at the prospect of another relegation battle.
