Saracens sacked Totoa Auwaa with immediate effect following the incident at the weekend – four months after forward Ben Stokes was involved in a nightclub brawl ahead of his retirement from international cricket.
The 21-year-old Samoan, who is a member of the club’s Senior Men’s Academy, was involved in the incident in St Albans on Saturday night.
Saracens confirmed on Monday evening that Auvaa had left the club following an internal investigation.
“Saracens can confirm that Senior Men’s Academy member Totoa Auvaa has left the club with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
“Following this weekend’s incident, the club has determined that his conduct, both on and off the pitch, did not meet the standards expected of anyone representing Saracens.
“We take our responsibilities to our supporters, youth and partners seriously and remain committed to maintaining the standards of behavior expected at the club.
“We will not comment further on this issue.”
The club did not say what happened.
Auvaa escaped punishment after the nightclub incident in June that led to cricketers Stokes and Gus Atkinson being dropped by England for the second Test against New Zealand.
Saracens called the events “unfortunate” and described themselves as “supporting” the player.
Separate Saracens and England cricket nights converged on the two pubs before concluding in the VIP area of the Stokes, Atkinson and Auvaa Rex Rooms nightclub in the early hours of Monday 8 June.
The two players broke the midnight curfew while celebrating their first Test win over New Zealand at Lord’s and both were ruled out for the second Test.
An investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board cleared Stokes and Atkinson of violent conduct, finding them innocent victims of “unprovoked attacks”.
Stokes and Atkinson were given formal written warnings for breaching their central contracts before returning for the third Test at Trent Bridge, where Stokes resigned from the captaincy and announced his retirement from international cricket.
Atkinson remained in the England set-up and has since been awarded another central contract.
