England head coach Thomas Tuchel:

Revealed at 11 a.m.

Tuchel said when looking back on the 2026 World Cup, england football net: “As a staff, as a group of people, it’s important to come together and stay together. We start this journey together and we end it together.

“The moment of winning a medal is very different to club football. The important thing is that you take something home.

“I’m the first to admit we didn’t achieve that – we wanted to have that second star – but nonetheless it was the culmination of a good campaign.”

On defeating Mexico at the Aztecs: “That was probably my moment in the World Cup – the hug with the coach after the final whistle. There’s so much you want from this game.

“They just refused to give in. No matter what, they refused to give in in the face of a lot of adversity – the altitude, the homeland, the stadium where no one can win a World Cup game, a guy going down, the penalty decision VAR gave us.”

On England fan support: “They lived up to the high expectations.

“Everyone told me, ‘Wait until the game starts. We’re going to have the best fans. We’re going to be at the top. The numbers are going to be amazing.’ That’s it.

“From the first moment, I think they felt this team. They could feel this team came together and this team meant that. That’s what made the connection so strong. It wasn’t artificial – it was very, very special.”

Looking ahead, Tuchel added: “These players will come back hungry, starting with the match against the defending world champions.

“We have just beaten France and we have a chance to beat Spain directly at home. Perfect start. Perfect rehearsal for our European Championship.

“This is something worth continuing to work on. We have every right to hold our heads high and face the next challenge with courage and a positive attitude.”
