Premier League schedule at close of play on Sunday, October 25, 2026
“Newcastle United” rose to the eighth place in the Premier League table after a well-deserved victory at “Crystal Palace”. A war of attrition in the first half, but then United broke the hosts apart 20 minutes after the break and then saw victory and a clean sheet.
Matthias Jaissle got his tactics right and finally had more options when it came to picking his team and using subs to see out the win.
Meanwhile, Sunderland suffered another upset as they were held to a goalless draw by Leeds.
The McChams are rock bottom and look desperate, with just one goal scored in four Premier League home games this season and no Premier League team having scored fewer home and away goals overall than Sunderland.
Regis le Bris is now one of the Premier League favorites as Sunderland looked to be in deep trouble as they scored just 42 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, but missed out on winning the Euroleague, with only Palace and the bottom two in the Premier League table scoring less.
A huge relegation six points next Saturday as Sunderland are at second bottom Coventry City. If the McChams don’t win it, the writing will be on the wall as they face Chelsea and Villa in the Premier League. The Wearsiders have picked up just one point from their last five league matches.
As for Matthias Jaissle and his Newcastle United side, Everton are next at home in the Premier League on November 2nd.
With the treatment room finally showing signs of helping United towards something like a decent squad of available players, it’s a huge relief to be in the top eight when we leave this weekend and allows Newcastle United fans to look up rather than down in the hope of adding further confidence and momentum as they face the Scouse-makemgs in two cups.
