The Browns’ victory over the Steelers drew a large crowd

The Cleveland Browns returned to the national spotlight last week, and a lot of people were watching. Mike Florio, writing for NBC Sports, noted that the Browns-Steelers game on Amazon Prime brought in a big number: 16.59 million viewers.

According to the streaming giant, this is the best Thursday night game since it began broadcasting the NFL in 2022.

“The Week 4 Thursday night game on Prime Video averaged 16.59 million viewers, making it the most-watched Week 4 Thursday night game since Prime Video took over the package in 2022, according to Amazon,” Florio wrote.

A Browns-Steelers game will always draw attention, especially when it’s played in Cleveland. But the 16.59 million exceeded most people’s expectations for the matchup, giving the Browns plenty of leverage when they needed it most.

The Browns have been on a roll lately, so they’re happy to hear so many people are rooting for them to be sneaked by Styles. Maybe some of those viewers will continue to watch the Browns in the coming weeks, especially if they win.

But there are some minor quibbles with Amazon’s numbers. Florio noted that some analysts believe the company inflates its stats because it automatically plays the game for anyone who visits the Prime page during the broadcast. So it’s not clear how many were chosen to watch this game and how many were forced to at least start.

Be that as it may, there is no doubt that many fans showed great interest in this meeting. The Browns don’t get a lot of nationally televised games, but if they continue to play well in 2026, they might not next year.

If they finish the season with a winning record, the NFL might consider putting their fair share of games on the national broadcast schedule next year. It was the last national primetime game for the Browns’ 2026 NFL schedule, and it was a good one.

Plus, it could help them return to the limelight in 2027.
