Patrick Bamford was injured when he scored the goal in Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw against 10-man Derby.
Bobby Clarke gave the visitors a first-half lead before Bamford equalized late in the game but limped off in between celebrations.
After a quiet start, the game came alive on the half hour mark with efforts on target from both sides.
Derby threatened when the ball fell to Clarke after Joe Ward’s pass and his solid drive to the right was saved by Michael Cooper.
Carlton Morris then launched himself on goal and shot on target which was saved with his feet by Cooper.
United’s first effort of note came from Calvin Phillips, whose long-range shot forced Jacob Widell Zetterstrom into a save.
Derby took the lead in the 37th minute when Ryan Hedges’ low shot from the left side of the pitch rebounded off the near post and the ball fell to Clarke who slotted into the net from inside the D.
Blades manager Chris Wilder made a double substitution just before the hour mark, sending on Sydie Peck and Femi Sereki.
As Derby’s Sammie Szmodics chested the ball down, Ben Brereton Diaz was off target for the hosts.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute when Dion Sanderson received his second booking for a clumsy challenge on Sereki.
The substitute played a key role in the equalizer after Romelle Donovan’s effort was saved by Zetterstrom.
The goal came in the 79th minute when Donovan probed the far post and Bamford was on hand to head the ball over the line from close range. Bamford was injured in the process but fell awkwardly and had to be substituted.
Peck had a shot on target, but it was straight to Zetterstrom who made a comfortable save.
Tyrese Campbell and fellow substitute Peck had chances to give the hosts the win in extra time.
Campbell saw his shot on the turn, Zetterstrom turned the ball over the post and then Peck equalized with the keeper.
Donovan saw his shot saved comfortably and United captain Yaphet Tanganga sent an effort straight at Zetterstrom in the dying seconds of the game.
The result means Derby have won just once in their opening 12 games of the season.
