Pisacane: “If Juventus are worried about playing with us, Cagliari is on the right track” – tense 1:1

“If they’re worried about playing against us, it’s a sign that Cagliari are on the right track,” Fabio Pisacane told Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti after the 1-1 draw.

The Sardinians have averaged very little possession this season, which is more a feature than a fault, as they led 1-0 at half-time with just 29 percent possession.

Daniel Maldini celebrated his 25th birthdayc birthday with a fourth straight Serie A game, but after a couple of Elia Caprile saves from Edon Jegrova, Juve finally pulled an equalizer through Randal Kolo Muani’s header.

It could have been another minute later, this time Kolo Muani headed Karim Alajbegovic’s cross into the underside of the bar from close range.

Pisacane is proud of Cagliari’s determination

The first question had to be about the tension at the final whistle, with both Spalletti and Pisaca red cards.

Pisacane told DAZN Italia: “It could have ended in a hug, I’m sorry it went like that, but Spalletti felt uncomfortable yesterday and it gives the guys a sense of justice.”

“It wasn’t nice to see what happened in So-and-so. At the end of the day, it could have ended with a hug, but if Juventus are worried that they can’t win at Cagliari in Week 6, that’s a sign that we’re on the right track.

“Juve deserved a draw, with the potential they have, of course they could have scored more, if it had been the other way around they should have really worried.”

The result means Cagliari are still ahead of Juventus in the Serie A table after six rounds, having won three in a row before this exit at the Unipol Domus.

“What I want to say right now is that we have to keep our tails high and be alert. I see a team that wants to do something different from previous years. It doesn’t mean stay at the top of the table, but as long as we can stay there, we will do our best,” added Pisacane.

“When you are under pressure in any game, you have to organize and suffer. I don’t want to appear arrogant, but I said against the potential of the Juventus squad that if we lose today, I can’t complain because the team played both stages in the form we prepared.

“I don’t train myself, I train the players and last season we had different characteristics in our midfield, so we had to do things differently. Now we have Alessandro Romano, Harry Winks, Michel Adopo, debutant Yanis Massolin in a risky position, which means we want to control the ball better. I know we have to improve that.”

It has been noted that Cagliari have had very little possession this season and only 28 per cent against Juventus tonight, but Pisacane defends their approach.

“Sometimes people point to the number of shots we allow, but that’s quite a distance for a team of our level. We allow shots on goal because our players are willing to throw themselves at whatever comes their way. That’s the spirit I want to see.”
