Looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of the second half of the season, Manchester United are reportedly preparing a January bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Diego Gomez.
According to Hooligan Soccer, the Red Devils have emerged as the strongest suitors to sign the Paraguayan international, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid also monitoring his progress.
Diego Gomez could be the ideal midfielder
The 23-year-old has impressed at Brighton since joining from Inter Miami and has established himself as a promising midfielder with huge potential. His energy, physical strength and ability to get involved in the attack has attracted the attention of several European heavyweights.
Gomez recently highlighted his technical ability and confidence in front of goal with a spectacular long-range goal against Crystal Palace. His versatility allows him to play in a variety of midfield roles, making him an attractive option for Manchester United.
The Old Trafford outfit could benefit from adding more dynamism and physicality to the midfield. Gomez’s ability to recover possession, move the ball forward and contribute during attacking transitions could make him a useful addition to the squad.
Arsenal are also monitoring the midfielder, while Atletico Madrid believe his aggressive approach and tactical discipline could suit their style of play.
However, when the transfer window opens in January, the most likely club to make a formal offer is Manchester United.

“Brighton” demands 50-60 million euros for Gomes

Convincing Brighton to sanction his departure will not be easy. The Seagulls recently extended Gomez’s contract through June 2031, bolstering their negotiating position and showing confidence in his long-term future.
According to the report, Brighton could demand €50-60m before considering a sale.
The south coast club have little reason to lose an important player midway through the campaign, especially given their recent performances.
Manchester United must therefore decide whether to meet Brighton’s financial demands or explore alternative targets. Gomez’s versatility and potential make him an attractive option, but negotiations could prove difficult.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are also watching, and United must act decisively to secure his signature.
