Manchester United have decided to sack Michael Carrick after Tottenham’s disappointment

Manchester United have reportedly made an important decision about Michael Carrick’s future after yet another disappointment against Tottenham Hotspur.

Fresh setback

Dominic Solanke scored in stoppage time to deny United all three points at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Against the run of play, Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the 73rd minute with a fine finish. Things looked better for United when Rodrigo Bentancourt was sent off five minutes later for a headbutt on Luke Shaw.

But the “red devils” could not see the game again and were punished for it. Solanke got the better of Lisandro Martinez and headed home past an unassisted Senne Lammens.

“United” has scored only 6 points from the first 6 games of the Premier League and is ranked 12th in the tournament table. Statistically, this is their worst start to a senior campaign in 40 years.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Carrick admitted it had been a difficult start as he stressed United needed to turn things around quickly.

It is not hidden that the head coach of “United” is under strong pressure at the moment. During the international break, United were linked with potential replacements including Eddie Howe and Antonio Conte. This result will only increase the noise.

Now TEAMtalk have revealed United’s position at Carrick.

United’s Carrick position

“Manchester United have decided not to sack Michael Carrick as manager despite failing to beat Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, TEAMtalk understands.”

“After the draw with Tottenham, there will be doubts over Carrick’s future as Man Utd manager, but TEAMtalk understands that Red Devils co-owners INEOS have no plans to change their position.”

Carrick is understood to be under no immediate pressure from the hierarchy.

However, that belief will be thoroughly tested if United fail to produce a performance and a result against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
