Manchester United could revive their long-term interest in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this winter.
The Red Devils have been disappointing in their first four games in the Premier League, picking up just 4 points.
Their defensive performance has been quite poor and the club may bring in a new centre-back at the start of the year.
Ideally, United would prefer a left-footed centre-back who can also play as a left-back when the situation calls for it.
Branthwaite is more than capable of fulfilling both roles, with reports suggesting United are considering a move for him in the winter.
The Englishman agreed personal terms with Manchester United a few years ago but they ended up signing Matthijs de Ligt and Lenny Yoro.
The Red Devils were unwilling to pay his £80m price tag at the time but still believed they could sign him for less.
Everton have a limited squad and may be reluctant to discuss winter deals due to a lack of sufficient spending this summer.
