Update: Ohio State coach Ryan Day said after the win over Indiana that Julian Sayi will be out for “a couple of weeks.”
After a bye week in Week 8, Ohio State plays USC, Oregon, Northwestern, Nebraska and finally Michigan to close out the regular season.
Previously: One of the biggest plays this college football Saturday is now in the hands of a freshman backup.
Indiana hosts Ohio State in Bloomington on Saturday in a matchup of two top-five teams. But while the visiting Buckeyes took a 19-15 lead, they were playing without starting quarterback Julian Say, who soon headed to the locker room after suffering an upper-body injury.
After that hit on a pass attempt in the fourth quarter, Sayin went to the locker room:
Freshman backup Luke Fahey entered the game as Sayin left the field and headed to the locker room.
Sayin then returned to Ohio State’s sideline by throwing his right arm:
With Sayin watching, Ohio State’s offense forced Indiana to punt the ball late in the game, giving Josh Hoover and the Hoosiers a chance to come down the field and take the lead in this Big Ten battle.
Fahey is 0-for-2 on two pass attempts in his limited action since replacing Say.
