Joseph Opoku scores and assists as Swansea thrash Blackburn Rovers

Ghanaian striker Joseph Opoku put in an impressive performance, scoring and assisting as Swansea City returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League on Saturday. Opoku, who joined the Welsh club from Belgium’s Zulte Waregem in the summer, scored two goals directly at home. The 21-year-old provided the assist for Steven Eustakio’s opening goal in the first 10 minutes. Before he scored himself midway through the first half, his goal went past goalkeeper Balazs Toth after a defensive error by Tom Atcheson allowed him to move into a promising position. He contributed to two of the goals. Ross Stewart completed the scoring in the second half and gave head coach Vitor Matos’ team a serious victory. Opoku’s latest contribution has taken him to 5 goals in 12 games since joining Swansea from Zulte Waregem in the summer. The win was a welcome response from Swansea after they beat Parkend Rangers in their final week. Opoku will be pleased with his increased influence in the team.
