Jarrod Bowen compares West Ham before watching wife Dani on Strictly Come Dancing

Bowen will get a chance to watch live TV coverage after being left out of the England squad

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen is excited to make up for lost time as wife Dani continues her long-awaited Strictly Come Dancing journey. Dani, 30, had to postpone her appearance on the BBC show due to a broken ankle, but is now working.

The actress and TV star survived the first week of the program with her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin. In the second week, he will have his other half and several family members cheering him on live in the studio.

“For Dani, who broke her leg last year and was disappointed not to make it, it was great to see her get the opportunity again and just go out there and do her first dance last week,” Bowen said. “I think when you get your first game back from injury, you get nervous like anything when you go out there and do that, but you get over it and come out the other side and he’s done really well!

“It’s always something to watch in our house, especially on the weekends when it’s showtime, and I watched Week 1 on TV with the kids. It was such a big show for Dani that everyone was watching it, and I called her right after the show and I was just like, ‘You did it! You do it! This is what you’ve been waiting for!'”

Bowen could go to Elstree Studios as he is not in England’s UEFA Nations League squad. He last played for his country in March, but former West Ham striker Carlton Cole recently urged Thomas Tuchel to consider recalling the former Hull City star.

“I always want to [Bowen] In the England team,” Cole told The Mirror in September: “West Ham and having our captain in the England team gives us a bit of prestige, he deserves it.

“They always talk about this whole thing: ‘If you’re not playing at the highest level, the elite level, like the Premier League, you shouldn’t be in the England team’. I think that’s a lie.

“I think you can still pick players who are playing in the Championship. As long as you know their quality, why not? And you know Jarrod Bowen is quality and he will raise his game at any event.”

Bowen and Dani have been together for several years and gave birth to twin daughters, Star and Summer, in 2023. They announced their engagement in 2024 and married at West Ham the following year, just days after the final game of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
