New England Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism III scored a spectacular one-handed touchdown to claim a dramatic 29-26 road victory over the Buffalo Bills.
The Patriots entered the game 1-2 after an uneven start defined by Drake Maye’s turnovers, two more in this game as he had an interception and a fumble.
And it looked like it would be 1-3 when AFC champion Josh Allen found Keon Coleman for a 34-yard score.
However, Chism became an unlikely hero for the Patriots, showing phenomenal body control to pull down a Maye shot on a layup with a minute and 50 seconds left.
Allen still had a chance to save the game for the Bills, but was intercepted by Craig Goodson as the Bills suffered their first loss of the season.
One of the teams expected to challenge the Patriots in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens improved to 3-1 with a 24-18 loss to the winless Tennessee Titans.
However, the victory could come at a great cost as quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered an ankle injury and left the stadium in a protective boot.
Rams stun Eagles with fightback
The Los Angeles Rams staged their best comeback of the season, rallying from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20.
Philadelphia was in complete control when the Eagles took possession at the Rams’ two-yard line with eight minutes remaining and had a chance to extend their lead to 17 points.
But a Rams goal-line stand set the Eagles’ epic collapse in motion, with a pair of touchdown runs by Kyren Williams sealing the victory for Los Angeles. Both teams are now 2-2.
The Dallas Cowboys bounced back from last week’s heartbreaking loss to the Ravens in Rio de Janeiro with a 34-30 win over their in-state rivals to win a thrilling shootout with the Houston Texans.
Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb had an incredible 17 catches, his final 12-yard touchdown catch proving the decisive blow, and the Texans’ Hail Mary failed in the closing seconds.
The Texans fall to 0-4, well away from the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 3-1 after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 22-17. The Cowboys are tied with their division rivals, the Eagles, at 2-2.
Despite not starting quarterback Jaxson Dart for the rest of the season, it’s the New York Giants who lead the NFC East ahead of the Eagles and Cowboys.
For the second straight week, the Giants won the goal line stand, sealing Deonte Banks’ 36-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals, which moved New York to 3-1.
The Chicago Bears beat the New York Jets 23-12, though the Jets ended their 637-day interception wait, while the Green Bay Packers improved to 2-2 by claiming a 17-14 road victory over the 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Earlier, in the first London game of the season, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Washington Commanders 30-13. Chiefs backup Marcus Mariota left the game with a knee injury.
