Black Queens coach Lars Kim Björkegren called the road to qualifying for the 2028 Olympics “really tough” but said he had “confidence in the girls” to get the job done.
The Queens cruised past Mauritius 10-0 to advance to the next round and will now face Zambia in the third round scheduled from February 23 to March 6, 2027.
“We have the potential to go all the way,” Björkegren said.
“There is no easy game in football, especially when it comes to qualifying for the Olympics, because only two countries will go from Africa to Los Angeles.
“It’s really hard to get there; we have to win. I believe in the girls and I think we are us [will] be there.”
The Black Queens have never qualified for the Olympic Games in the country’s history.
Only two slots are available for African teams.
