The club said in a statement on Friday (September 11): “Hull City are relieved to confirm that Soba Thomas was not injured in a road traffic incident near the club’s Cottingham training ground.

“The club is aware of the photos of Soba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure fans that he was not injured and emerged from the car unscathed.”

A spokesman for Humberside Police told the sun: “Officers and emergency services are currently at the scene following reports of a road traffic incident on Woods Lane, Millhouse, Cottingham.

“The road remains closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area so emergency services can operate effectively.”

Ahead of this weekend’s game, Hull City manager Sergei Jakirovic said: yorkshire post: “I don’t have any doubts about Soba because he played a role in the Champions League (Stoke City).

“He is a left winger and we can use him inside like a left (side) number 10. He understands football. His passing is very good and his end product is very good. Also, he has very good set-pieces.

“He’s sharp and quick. And, defensively, he’s very responsible. I think he’s a good fit for us. As always, I hope he can help us.”

Soba Thomas told the media: “Yeah, it’s a dream come true. You know, from the time I went from the scaffolding and all those crazy things to now my family can see me play in the best league in the world.

“You know, it’s an honor, it’s a privilege and I’m forever grateful to the club for making this dream come true. But for me, it just makes me hungrier.”
