Former Hearts forward Ryan Stevenson has been put in place as Hibs look in disarray at the moment. “Yes they do,” he said on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme.
“I don’t know David Gray, but I like David Gray. I know people say it’s a natural ending, but sometimes the grass isn’t always greener.
“They were better in the second half but did Falkirk really look like they were going to concede? I don’t think so.
“It’s worrying that they’re bottom of the league. It’s still tight there. It was a massive three points from Kilmarnock that put them above Hibs. They need quick results.”
Former Hibs midfielder Michael Stewart agrees, but those improved performances are not easy to come by when the manager is still assessing his available options.
“There are a lot of unanswered questions,” he said on Sportsound.
“It feels a little bit like that when they’re looking for something. Looking for systems. Looking for personnel. Looking for partnerships to grow and bring them results.
“The new manager is in the door, with three big games on the back of two defeats.”
Reedijk is confident he has seen positive signs and progress from his first performance under his charge at Dundee United last Saturday. This also ended in defeat.
The manager now has the dual task of keeping the players and supporters on the same page while steering the team away from the relegation zone. Hearts at Hampden also looms large on his horizon the day after Halloween.
With the national cup final to look forward to, the timetable for turning the Hibs tanker around might seem less daunting.
