Gotham sign Spanish defender Leila Ouahabi until 2028 – The Equalizer Soccer

Gotham FC have signed Spanish international defender Leila Ouahabi to a contract until the 2028 NWSL season, with the club introducing the 33-year-old at halftime of Sunday’s match against Angel City FC.

The signing was announced on the same day Ouahabi and Chicago Stars FC mutually agreed to part ways. Ouahabi made his Chicago debut on July 18 against Angel City and started 9 of his 11 games for the club.

Prior to his brief NWSL stint, Ouahabi spent four seasons at Manchester City where he was part of the club’s WSL and FA Cup winning campaign in 2025-26. He made over 100 competitive appearances for City.

Before his time in England, Ouahabi spent two spells at Barcelona, ​​winning five Spanish league titles and seven Copa de la Reina trophies. She was also part of Barcelona’s 2020–21 UEFA Women’s Champions League winning team that completed the continental treble that season.

At international level, Ouahabi has made more than 60 appearances for Spain and featured in the 2019 World Cup as well as Euro 2022 and Euro 2025. He will wear jersey #4 for Gotham.
