Getafe president Torres has confirmed the “final offer” for Sancho

Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed the club have been working on a deal to bring free agent Jadon Sancho to Spain for the past four months.

Sancho has been without a club since Manchester United chose not to trigger the one-year option on his contract at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old has endured a tough five-year spell at Old Trafford, scoring just 12 goals and providing six assists in 83 games for the Red Devils in all competitions.

He also spent time on loan with former club Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, the latter of which resulted in Europa League glory under Unai Emery.

But after leaving United, Sancho was unable to find a new club, although reports suggested a return to Dortmund was imminent, but it never materialised.

And now it has emerged that Getafe are ready to sign Sancho, with Torres confirming a final offer has been made to the former England international.

Torres told Cadena Cope radio: “It is absolutely true; I have been working on it for four months. He is now a free agent. We have made him a final offer.”

Getafe are 14th in LaLiga after the opening eight games of the season, with Rayo Vallecano their next opponents at the Estadio Coliseum on Monday.

They have won just one of their last six LaLiga games (2D 3), a 1-0 win over Malaga, but that hasn’t stopped them from bringing Dani Carvajal to the club.

Carvajal, like Sancho, was left without a team after bringing the curtain down on a trophy-laden 13-year stint with Real Madrid, but has since joined Getafe.

Torres said the deal for Sancho was a little more difficult than the deal for Carvajal: “He’s 26 years old, he’s very good, so it’s [signing] it’s a bit tricky.

He previously played for Manchester [United] and Aston Villa, so it’s not like he came out of nowhere. I know he has had offers from Qatar and a number of other places.

“We should be patient, we should not pressure him, let him decide.”
