Game day injury news can change a team’s plans in a hurry. Coaches spend the week preparing for several scenarios, but often the hope is that a key player will make it back in time. When that hope fades hours before kickoff, the backup plan becomes the only plan. The Browns received the news on Sunday morning.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Mason Graham will not play against the Ravens.
“Browns DT Mason Graham, listed as questionable for today’s Week 6 game against the Ravens, is not expected to play today,” Schefter said.

While the news is not entirely surprising, it is disappointing. After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday and returning on a limited basis Friday, Mason Graham was listed as questionable after returning to the practice field for the first time since spraining his MCL and ankle against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Its absence makes the interior dangerously thin. Kalia Davis and Mike Hall Jr. has already been ruled out, so the Browns will lean on Maliek Collins, Adin Huntington and 2 practice squad upgrades. Collins, who was limited by a foot injury during the week, will be heavily counted on after posting 1.5 sacks against the New York Jets.
Graham still leads the team with 4 sacks despite missing almost all of the last 2 games, a reminder of how important his presence is to this defense.
The matchup makes his absence all the more significant. The Baltimore Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson and center Cam Jurgens, which likely means a heavy dose of Derrick Henry. Stopping the run will be a top priority, and the Browns struggled in that department last week, allowing Braelon Allen to rush for 116 yards.
The good news is that Graham is getting close. Limited practice on Friday is a positive step, and sitting out against Baltimore could give him a week to heal before returning. For now, the Browns will need depth to hold up against a physical Ravens offense in a game with big AFC North implications.
