QPR give away stadium naming rights
Queens Park Rangers have announced their decision to donate the naming rights to Loftus Road to a charity of a supporter’s choice. QPR chief executive Lee Hoos said: “There are so many worthy causes doing incredible things, so the next question is how do we decide which charity to partner with. Consulting with fans is something I’ve always believed in, so it makes absolute sense to let supporters make the decision.”
Blitzl faces FA charges
Bristol City have been accused of failing to ensure orderly behavior from their players during Saturday’s Championship defeat to Aston Villa. In the 53rd minute, referee Scott Duncan awarded Villa a penalty and the referee was surrounded by Bristol players. Two players, Andreas Weimann (former Villa player) and Max O’Leary, were booked for their actions.
Bassini claims he saved Rangers
Lawrence Bassini claims he saved Bolton Wanderers from government control by agreeing an “11th hour” deal to take over the club. Bassini told the BBC: “The priority was to save the club from going into administration. Now we have to look at restructuring to get the club back to where it was. We worked very, very hard to get the deal done. We came very close to going into administration this morning. At the 11th hour, we did it overnight.” The Tartters had until May 8 to pay up, and club staff still haven’t paid up.
SPFL keeps winter break unchanged
The SPFL have decided to go ahead with the winter break of the season, which is due to start with the Scottish League Cup on 13 July, with the league itself due to start on 3 August. Winter closure is from December 30th to January 17th.
Onyekuru rejects PSG move to join Everton
Now Liverpool fans will say something like this: “How embarrassing is it for them when a player rejects Paris Saint-Germain to join mid-table Everton?” However, things are not as simple as they sound. Young Nigeria international forward Henry Onyikuru underwent a medical before moving to the Parisian club, but withdrew from the transfer due to fears that he would not have the chance to play in the first team there. Benelli challenges triathlon

Young people subjected to racial abuse
Manchester United defender Ashley Young has become the latest footballer to face racial abuse on social media, with his club warning they “will take the strongest possible action”. Young was targeted following United’s poor performance in the Champions League, which saw them lose to Barcelona, but somehow his skin color has become an issue for some simple-minded social media users. Anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out said: “After tonight’s Champions League match, another black player, this time Ashley Young, was subjected to racist abuse on social media. We once again ask Twitter the same question – when will you take serious action to tackle the rampant discrimination on the platform?” Twitter’s response so far has been to simply block users who post racial abuse against Young until the tweets are deleted. This will stop them from doing the same thing in the future!
Salah uses time interview to demand more respect for women
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine and has been chosen as one of six cover stars for the magazine’s latest issue. The Egyptian asked his fellow Muslims in the interview to show more respect for women in their culture, saying: “We need to change the way women are treated in our culture. It’s mandatory, not optional. I support this woman even more than before because I feel she deserves more than what they are giving her right now.”
