If you’ve read this column long enough, you know that we focus on CBS Sports Fantasy leagues and try to find free agents listed in 65 percent of the leagues or less. But every now and then we come across a player like Woody Marks who is featured in too many leagues on CBS Sports but is available on many other platforms.
Marks (72 percent listed on CBS Sports) should be listed in all leagues where possible, while David Montgomery (groin) is considered week-to-week. Marks doesn’t have an easy matchup against Jacksonville in London in Week 6, but he’ll at least be flexible in all leagues until Montgomery returns.
Marks averaged a season-best 12.5 PPR points in Week 5 at Tennessee and has scored at least 8.2 PPR points in four straight games. It is worth adding at least 20 percent of the remaining FAAB.
There are plenty of other free agents to add who will be the difference makers in Week 6 and beyond, which you can read about below. Remember, Week 6 is the first scoring cycle where four teams (Cincinnati, Detroit, Miami and Minnesota) meet. With all the injuries we’re trying to overcome, this could be a vital week on the waiver wire.
Editor’s note: For this waiver wire column, we’re only looking at players listed in less than 65 percent of CBS Sports leagues.
Week 6 waivers
Goodbye: Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, Kyler Murray, Malik Willis
Injuries: Lamar Jackson (ankle), Baker Mayfield (thumb), Caleb Williams (hamstring) and Michael Penix Jr. (rib)
Check for availability in shallow leagues: Jacoby Brissett (83 percent listed). I thought Brissett would play well against Detroit in Week 5, and he had his best game of the season with 31.3 Fantasy points. He doesn’t have an easy schedule coming up against the Rams in Week 6 and Denver in Week 7, but his pursuit of points makes him attractive to Fantasy managers. He’ll likely be a sub-par starter every week in all leagues.
Release candidates: Bo Nix (79 percent listed) and Justin Herbert (69 percent). The Knicks have averaged more than 16.1 Fantasy points just once this season and just 9.9 Fantasy points in the first game with Sean Payton. Nix is hard to trust in a Superflex and two quarterback league heading into Week 6 against Seattle. … Herbert averaged 15.3 Fantasy points or less per game this season, and you can’t start him in Kansas City in Week 6 at quarterback in leagues. He also had a bye in Week 7, so it’s easy to drop Herbert in a quarterback format at most.

RIGHT TO USE
Running backs
Goodbye: Jahmyr Gibbs, Chase Brown, Samaje Perine, Ollie Gordon II, Jaylen Wright, Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason
Injuries: Quinshon Judkins (foot), Raheim Sanders (hip), Dylan Sampson (knee), Saquon Barkley (hamstring), Tank Bigsby (abdomen), Will Shipley (foot), TreVeyon Henderson (ankle), David Montgomery (groin), Breece Hall (quadriceps), Kyle Monangai (Twithamine), Kyle Monangai (Traviand), (chest), Rico Dowdle (foot), Jonathon Brooks (groin), Jordan Mason (thumb), Christopher Brooks (ankle), Jonah Coleman (ankle), Zach Charbonnet (knee), Isiah Pacheco (back) and James Conner (foot)
Check for availability in shallow leagues: Zach Charbonnet (84 percent listed), Blake Chorum (82 percent), Mike Washington (82 percent), Brian Robinson Jr. (79 percent), Jordan Mason (78 percent), Woody Marks (74 percent), Kaelon Black (70 percent), Keaton Mitchell (69 percent) and Tyler Allgaier (6 percent). Charbonnet is not expected to play in Week 6 as Seattle plays at Denver on Thursday night, but hopefully he will make his 2026 debut soon. When healthy, Charbonnet could be the best running back for Seattle, so make sure he is featured in all leagues. … Corum, Washington, Robinson, Black and Algeier are all top-level shackles who play well enough for flex options when needed.
Robinson has averaged at least 8.7 PPR points in three of his last four games. Washington (Ashton Jeanty) and Allgeier (Jeremiah Love) are injured. … Mason is expected to return from a four-game absence with a thumb injury after a Week 7 bye against Minnesota. He’ll play a vital role in tandem with Aaron Jones and at least have some flex appeal for the rest of the season. … Marks is Houston’s primary running back now that Montgomery is injured, and he should be added in all formats. He doesn’t have an easy matchup in London against Jacksonville in Week 6, but Marks will at least be flexible in all leagues until Montgomery returns. Marks averaged a season-best 12.5 PPR points in Week 5 at Tennessee and has scored at least 8.2 PPR points in four straight games. … Mitchell will likely share the job with Omarion Hampton and Kimani Vidal, but Mitchell has at least three catches in three straight games, including two of those outings with at least 11.3 PPR points.
Release candidates: Kenneth Gainwell (74 percent listed), Rachaad White (68 percent) and Will Shipley (67 percent). Gainwell may be a shackle for Bucky Irving, but Gainwell has minimal Fantasy value as an independent running back. He’s averaged 5.8 PPR points or less in four of five games and has seven or fewer total touchdowns in every outing this year. … White returned from missing a game in Week 4 with a shoulder injury in Week 5 to be part of a three-man committee with Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Austin Ekeler. White had seven carries for 18 yards and one catch for 2 yards on a target against the Giants, and Washington will be hard pressed to rely on him when everyone else is healthy. … Shipley is expected to miss several weeks with a foot injury, and Barkley could return as early as Week 6. You can safely cut Shipley in most leagues.

Handcuffs to keep: These are handcuffs to keep on your bench if you have an open roster spot. They could win the league if a starter ever gets hurt, but these running backs have mostly minimal Fantasy value as backups. They are listed in the order I like to keep them on my bench.
Emmett Johnson – 63 percent were listed
Samaje Perine – 11 percent were listed
Chris Rodriguez Jr. – 55 percent were listed

Goodbye: Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Malik Washington, Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas
Injuries: CeeDee Lamb (quadriceps), Rashee Rice (hamstring), Tyquan Thornton (ankle), DJ Moore (shoulder), DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Ladd McConkey (leg), Quentin Johnston (chest), Tre Harris (hamstring), Michael Pittman (leg), Roman Wilson (toe), Joonrcus (Addstring), KC Concep Stefon Diggs (hamstring), Deebo Samuel (hamstring), Jalen Coker (quadriceps), AJ Brown (ankle), Alec Pierce (heel), Caleb Douglas (ankle), Adonai Mitchell (toe), Mack Hollins (calf), Jalen Nailor (concussion), Pat Bryant (ankle), De’Zaunkle (Jorib Korist), Tyson (hamstring), Tank Dell (knee), Jalen McMillan (knee), Christian Kirk (calf) and Omar Cooper Jr. (ankle).
Check for availability in shallow leagues: Devaughn Vele (77 percent), Xavier Worthy (74 percent), Wan’Dale Robinson (71 percent) and Keon Coleman (68 percent). Vele was bad against Minnesota in Week 5 with four catches for 26 yards on six targets, but the entire Saints offense struggled against the Vikings. Vele still has three games in five outings with at least 11.4 PPR points. … The Chiefs lost Rice and Thornton in Week 4 at Las Vegas, and Thornton will miss most of the season. Rice could be back in Week 6, but no other notable receivers have been added — yet. Decent should be added in all leagues, and he had four catches for 70 yards on seven targets against the Raiders. If a decent Rice pans out, he could be the No. 1 receiver for Patrick Mahomes in Week 6. … The Titans are bad, but Robinson has scored at least 11 PPR points in three straight games, with two touchdowns during that span. He’s also averaging 7.7 targets over his last three games, and he should be added in all PPR leagues. … Coleman had one catch for a 7-yard touchdown against the Rams without Moore in Week 5, but Coleman also lost a lot of production due to suspensions. If Moore reappears in Week 6 in Las Vegas, I like Coleman as the No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues.
Release candidates: Chris Godwin (77 percent listed), Brian Thomas Jr. (76 percent) and Quentin Johnston (51 percent). Godwin has yet to score a touchdown, reach 50 receiving yards in a game or score in double figures in PPR this season. It’s safe to throw in most formats. … Thomas missed three targets in Week 5 against Philadelphia in London and has combined for three catches for 25 yards on six targets in his last three games. He isn’t productive enough to warrant a roster spot in most leagues. … Johnston missed Week 5 against Denver with a chest injury and is already out for Week 6 at Kansas City. The Chargers have a bye in Week 7 and Johnston has yet to score a touchdown, reach 50 receiving yards in a game or score in double figures in PPR this season.

Goodbye: Sam LaPorta, TJ Hockenson, Mike Gesicki, Greg Dulcich
Injuries: Kenyon Sadiq (concussion), TJ Hockenson (concussion), Terrance Ferguson (ankle) and David Njoku (foot)
Check for availability in shallow leagues: Mark Andrews (79 percent), Jake Ferguson (76 percent) and Kyle Pitts (69 percent). Andrews had a rough game in Atlanta in Week 5 with a fumble and a low touchdown, and he finished with just four catches for 28 yards on six touchdowns. However, he has at least 10.9 PPR points in two of his last four games and could be a subpar starter against Cleveland in Week 6. … Ferguson is a touch-or-bust tight end, and he averaged 4.9 PPR points or less in the three games he didn’t reach the end zone this season. But CeeDee Lamb (quadriceps) could see an increase in production if he starts against Green Bay in Week 6, so stay tuned to see what happens there to start Ferguson or not against the Packers. … Pitts had his best game of the season in Week 5 against Baltimore with five catches for 42 yards and six touchdowns, and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come. He also has eight catches for 89 yards and nine touchdowns over his last two games, so don’t discount him heading into Week 6 against Chicago.
Release candidates: Mike Gesicki (70 percent listed), Kenyon Sadiq (68 percent), Dalton Schultz (65 percent) and TJ Hockenson (61 percent). Gesicki scored a touchdown in Week 5 at Miami and has now reached the end zone four times in three straight games and five appearances this season. That said, he had one catch for 4 yards on two targets against the Dolphins and isn’t worth having on your list for the Week 6 bye against Cincinnati. … Sadiq suffered a concussion in Week 5 against Cleveland and could be out in Week 6 against New England. Even if he plays against the Patriots, he will be hard to count on in most leagues. Sadiq has averaged 3.7 PPR points or less in three of his last four games, and his only positive performance came in Week 3 against the Lions, who struggled to stop tight ends. … Schultz averaged 7.5 PPR points or less in three games with Nico Collins this season, and now the Texans have added Marvin Harrison Jr. via trade from Arizona. Schultz can struggle for targets and has minimal Fantasy upside in most leagues. … Hockenson (concussion) will be fine in Week 7 after having a Week 6 bye with Minnesota. Even healthy, Hockenson will be hard to rely on when Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison are on the field. He’s not worth a roster spot on a bye week.
