Chelsea’s January plans are gathering pace, with new transfer reports hinting at another busy spell at Stamford Bridge.
Midfielder Xabi remains firmly on the agenda for Alonso and Alex Scott continues to loom large in the discussion. In fact, ever since Enzo Fernández left for Man City in the summer, Chelsea have been wondering how to replace his influence.
Reports on Sunday suggested that Chelsea have favored Scott over Lamine Camara as they consider their next move.
That would mean reversing course after the Monaco midfielder came so close to joining in the summer, with deals agreed before Monaco pulled the plug, leaving Chelsea to look elsewhere.
Scott is also familiar territory.
Bournemouth rejected Chelsea’s attempts to sign him in the previous window, but the Blues have kept him in their sights.

Getting him out of the Vitality Stadium still promises to be a serious undertaking. Bill Foley, the owner of “Bournemouth”, spoke of his desire to sign a new contract with the English midfielder, whose current contract runs until 2028.
Chelsea may fancy their chances, but Bournemouth have an asset worth keeping and plenty of reason to demand a suitable deal.
There are also questions behind.
Any transfer business for Alonso should improve the options available to him and there is little value in adding another name without knowing where that player fits.
This helps explain why Chelsea’s midfield pursuit has attracted so much attention.
Scott is the main target, but the club have also been linked with players who could offer different options for the future.
Chelsea have already spoken to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s agents, an insider says
One of them is Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, with Chelsea insider Simon Phillips claiming the Blues have already spoken to his representatives.
The journalist says that their interest also extends to previous transfer windows.
“Chelsea have looked at him in the last couple of windows and they’ve really been in touch and talking to their agents and stuff,” Phillips told his YouTube channel.
“So it’s certainly a player they’re very interested in – that’s Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal. So he’s one of the players on that list, but he’s a player we’ve been watching before.”
Phillips named Everton’s Harrison Armstrong, Fulham’s Josh King and Newcastle’s Lewis Miley among the midfielders Chelsea are monitoring.
Lewis-Skelly would bring useful versatility, playing on the left wing and in midfield, and he also experienced a Premier League title and Champions League final with Arsenal.
Convincing the Gunners to move to London is another matter, with Sky Sports reporting in August that Arsenal were unwilling to sell him and strengthen their local rivals.
Phillips’ comments suggest Chelsea have done more than just watch from afar, but the question remains whether the previous agent contact will turn into a serious January pursuit.
