Carrick was hurt at Old Trafford as Manchester United’s poor start continued

Michael Carrick admitted that he was offended by the praise of Manchester United fans after the 1:1 draw with Tottenham, who could not win at home.

Dominic Solanke’s late header canceled out Bryan Mbeumo’s finish at Old Trafford as the visitors enjoyed the better chances, with some supporters making their feelings known at half-time and full-time with loud cheers.

“It’s not nice,” Carrick told Sky Sports.

“It hurts a lot because I care about this club. But I understand the frustration, the reality is, we have to get back to winning games.”

Carrick admitted that United were poor in the first half but felt they grew into the game and conceded that the late goals had a big impact on them.

“It was a mixed game. It was difficult for us to start. We weren’t there for a number of reasons. It was a difficult time as you can see.

“But the guys got into the game, in the second half I thought we were better in everything. To get the game the way we want it, in a good position – we have to see that.

“We have to manage these situations. It’s two late goals that hurt us and everything looks very different. That’s the reality.

“I don’t think it’s a lack of confidence, but the game can get away from you very quickly. We found a way to get back into the game and put ourselves in a great position – that’s one of the most disappointing things.”

Mbeumo: The first part was not us

Goalkeeper Mbeumo said that the first half of “United” wants to get a positive result from the draw.

He added: “We had time to get into the game but we played well in the second half. In the first half it wasn’t us, we had to change. We tried to beat them.

“We know Spurs have good players who can be dangerous. It’s a bit disappointing, we have to work on things.

“We have to keep going because we have a lot of games.”
