The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers move the National League Championship Series from the midwest to the west coast for Game 3 on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 8:00 PM ET and the game can be viewed or streamed on FOX Sports 1.
The Brewers won both games at American Family Field to serve at home, as No. 1 hitter RHP Jacob Misiorowski won the series opener 2-1, followed by a high-scoring 7-4 win in Game 2.
Milwaukee came out on top in Game 2, ending the Under’s 4-0-1 run during these playoffs. Meanwhile, Los Angeles managed a 3-3 record in the postseason as it held off the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in the best-of-five NLDS, but fell into an 0-2 series hole in that series.
In the regular season series at Dodger Stadium, the Brewers won three games in a four-game set August 13-16, with the Over-Under split 2-2.
The Brewers will start LHP Robert Gasser, who has a 5-5 record with a 3.87 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 20 regular season starts and a relief appearance with 103 strikeouts in 109 ⅓ IP.
Gasser made his first career postseason start in Game 4 against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park, allowing one run, three hits and four walks in four innings. The 27-year-old El Dorado Hills, Calif. native will be making his second straight start in his home state, which could give him a little extra leverage.
However, the Dodgers are going with LHP Blake Snell, who is 4-1 with a 1.90 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 55 strikeouts in 42 ⅔ IP in nine starts during the regular season.
Snell made his 16th career postseason start in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Braves, allowing one run, three hits and five walks in 3 ⅔ IP as he was stymied on 90 pitches with five strikeouts.
He faced the Brewers in Game 1 of the NLCS in Milwaukee last season and allowed just one hit with no walks and 10 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings in a 2-1 win.
The Dodgers are trying not to get into an 0-3 series hole, because it’s impossible to make the World Series with that kind of deficit. It’s a must-win game for the Dodgers, and with a hot Snell going up against the inexperienced Gasser, Los Angeles is a strong play on the money lineAs long as it’s not tied at -190 or more.
Overall, while the Dodgers have a ton of postseason experience, there is still a ton of pressure to win. Expectations are world title or else. So we could see some nerves and some low scores. It would not be surprising to see this as a 3-2 or 4-2 type of game. let’s go 7.5 DOWN (-118) Total for game 3 as well.
