Journalist Graham Bailey claimed in his latest report that “Arsenal” is among the clubs interested in “Chelsea” defender Josh Acheampong. It was noted that the “gunners” compete with “Liverpool”, “Newcastle United”, “Bournemouth”, “Bavaria”, “Borussia Dortmund” and “Napoli” to transfer the English talent.
Acheampong’s Important Role at Chelsea
Acheampong has served as an important squad player for Chelsea so far this campaign, but is yet to establish himself as a regular starter for them in the Premier League. The 20-year-old football player has played 7 games in all competitions for the Blues this season.

The English star is currently among the most talented young defenders in the Premier League. So it’s no surprise that Arsenal are racing to sign him.
His current contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap in the January transfer window or at the end of this season.

Should Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta move to Acheampong?
Acheampong is a solid tackler and has a good sense of danger to give his team possession inside his own half. He usually gets his foot through the ball when needed and also makes neat passes from the back.
Standing at 1.90m tall, the English talent can use his powerful frame to win several aerial duels for his team. Acheampong is primarily a centre-back but can also play as a right-back if required. He has already gained some valuable experience in the Premier League and will never need it to settle down at Arsenal.
We can expect Acheampong to add more quality to Mikel Arteta’s defense in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a useful rotation player in the North London club’s squad.

At 20 years old, the future looks pretty promising for Acheampong as long as he continues to improve each season. He is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on in the long term, so the Gunners would be wise to step up their efforts to secure his services either this January or at the end of this campaign.
