Manchester United are preparing to officially sign Crystal Palace left-back Tyrik Mitchell.
The Red Devils were expected to bring in a new left-back this summer but failed to find a suitable solution before deadline day.
Newcastle United Lewis Hall is a top target for Manchester City giants but the youngster is not for sale at any price.
Hall has since signed a new long-term contract with no release clause and has stated that he hopes to stay for a few years.
It is now claimed that United are keeping a close eye on Mitchell and believe he can be signed on the cheap this winter.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the Eagles expires next June and Crystal Palace have yet to convince him to renew.
If the stalemate continues into the New Year, United may have the opportunity to land the Englishman on the cheap.
He is said to be worth around £20 million. Manchester City paid a similar fee Mark Gay Last winter, after he signed the final six months of his contract with the Eagles.
