Ricardo Pepi made his long-awaited return to Dutch giants PSV on Saturday and departed with a home defeat.
Pepi came off the bench to score his first goal since 5 September in PSV’s 7–0 thrashing of Willem II in the Eredivisie. The US Men’s National Team forward has been sidelined since mid-September due to a minor leg injury.
Peter Bosz’s men took a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Mauro Junior and Guus Till before they leveled in the second half.
USMNT forward Sergino Dest made it 4-0 in quick succession past Sven Mijnans and Ruben van Bommel for PSV’s third goal five minutes after the interval.
Pepi entered the match on the hour mark and wasted little time adding his name to the score. The 23-year-old football player scored his fourth goal of the season after a pass from Esmir Bayraktarević.
Pepi would add an assist to his tally after beating Kodai Sano for PSV’s sixth goal before Šuryjano Cornecion scored his first career goal to make it 7-0.
The tally also took Pepi one goal shy of 50 PSV career goals, while keeping the reigning league champions two points clear of top spot.
