Rodri: Barcelona star reveals Real Madrid boss Mourinho called him after moving from Manchester City

Barcelona midfielder Rodri has revealed he called Mourinho after deciding to reject Real Madrid and join them in El Clasico in August.

Rodri thanks Mourinho for interest

Rodri explained that Mourinho made it clear how much he wanted him to move to the Bernabeu and outlined the role he could play in the team.

The midfielder chose not to reveal details of their private conversations but confirmed he contacted the Portuguese coach after agreeing to join Barcelona.

“I don’t want to reveal private conversations, but obviously he expressed his desire for me to go there and explained what he thought I would bring to the team,” Rodri said.

“He was very good to me. When I made my decision, I called him to thank him for his interest in me and his attitude towards me.

“He is a great coach and he has proven that over the years and Real Madrid will be a strong opponent in the league this season.”
