The opening weekend of the Barclays Women’s Super League did not disappoint. There were some expected results and some surprises, so that means it’s time to roll out the power rankings.
After each game week, I rank the teams based on their overall performance, or lack thereof. Sometimes a defending champ beating an up-and-coming team might not move me as much as a lower-ranked team pulling out a hard-fought draw against a perennial contender, so congratulations aston villa.

The first game week gave us a look at how some teams will approach the season, while others haven’t quite settled on their identities yet. It’s not just promoted Birmingham City or Charlton Athletic who have work to do; there are other teams too. This is also a club with a long history – sorry to Chelsea Football Club.
London City Lions kick off new season with win Manchester UnitedWhile there were many flashy signings during the offseason, it was the players on the previous roster that ultimately made the difference. Still, this feels like the first real power shift in the league.
Despite finishing third and fourth in the previous two seasons, United may be in a slow but steady decline going forward, while London City’s future looks bright.
Now let’s look at the latest rankings:
1.Manchester City
It looks like last year’s league champions are picking up right where they left off. Bunny Shaw has already sealed the Golden Boot race with two goals, while Mary Fowler could be ready for a comeback season after scoring in February while recovering from an ACL injury.
2. arsenal
Look out for Lisa Baum, who scored on her debut for Arsenal after moving to the club for nearly $700,000. The 19-year-old’s strong start could bode strongly for the club.
3. Chelsea Football Club
One positive sign for the Blues is Lauren james Get back on top of the standings and start the new season. A less positive sign was the presence of defender Veerle Buurman after the own goal. Overall, it’s been an unconvincing start to the year.

It’s been a great opening weekend for Tottenham Hotspur and Kirsty Hansen has started even better. The Scotland international scored two goals and if she and Signe Gopset continue to find each other on the pitch, Spurs will end up being more than just a spoiler.
6. Manchester United
Head coach Eva Olid’s official moment in the league comes after London City lost to a “newer” team. But perhaps more concerning is the defensive formation. usually a staple food united The team in the past looked shaky, and it’s hard to judge the team’s identity in the new era after one game.
7. liverpool
Well, of course, Liverpool scored against the newly promoted side, but you can only judge the performance in front of you, and a team that takes care of business is fine with me. Vivien Endemann’s debut and goal wolfsburg to WSL.
8. Brighton & Hove Albion
There is only one game this season, but when it comes to measuring how a club stacks up against other top teams, a loss is still a loss, no matter how big the gap. Despite the strong efforts of Manuela Vargas and Kiko Ceke, how head coach Arturo Ruiz gets his team to bounce back will be crucial.

Good teams always find a way, but despite the best efforts of Ruby Mays and Ornella Vignola, Everton couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Hopefully this is just an opening week issue and not a season long issue.
10.Aston Villa
Head coach Natalia Arroyo made changes in the second half and it paid off. Noel Maritz’s involvement in the final third, which ultimately resulted in an own goal, as she fired with great force, earned Aston Villa some respect heading into week two.
11. crystal palace
Crystal Palace are making the most of their recent promotions. Lexi Lloyd-Smith’s breakaway performance was clinical, while a huge effort from goalkeeper Pauline Perrault-Manin may make future games in the “middle” tier difficult.
12. west ham united
Figuring out how to get into games faster will be the biggest task for head coach Rita Guarino and the team. The consolation goal was scored by Early Period of Xionggu Done by Viviane Asseyi is not enough.
13. Birmingham
In a truly welcome moment to join the league, Birmingham got a taste of what it was like to go up against the Championship. The silver lining is Oceane Hurtre and her efforts to “get out of here with something.”
14. Charlton Athletic
Sometimes you have to get a good result in your first game after promotion and that has to be Charlton’s attitude going forward. It’s going to be a long season.
